Summer Water Park Fun

So we made it to the half way mark of the year. All the kids get out of school and parents wonder what to do with these little ones. As a child I loved the summers for those wonderful trips my parents would make for us. Water slides tubes, and pools were our Saturday family outings.

Following my last blog, another little hidden park in South Florida that would be great for family with kids of all ages is Coconut Cove Water Park. Its located hidden behind a few family residencies in Boca Raton and for that reason I find it to be a man made little paradise. Its not as crowded as you more famous water parks and that keeps the crowds manageable. Although I have been going for a few years now and it is growing popularity.

Below are its fun attractions:
One of the highlights of the park is the playground that sits right in the middle of a large pool no deeper then 3 feet. Built sort of like a beach shore, the outside areas are shallow enough for babies sit and splash water all around. The center of the play ground is deep enough to give any 4 years old tons of fun but safe enough where no expert swimming levels are needed.
For the older more adventurous kids you have two water slides that can be enjoyed by any family member as long as the meet the height requirement of 42 inches. The slides end in a pool about 3 feet deep so for the little ones that reach the height limit they may need to know how to at least doggie paddle.
Then you have your lazy river for those who just want to take up some sun and relax.

So if you live in South Florida and you are always in the hunt for great places and events to spend your Saturday afternoons, you might want to try out Coconut Cove Water Park.

Ichetucknee, Florida's Little Secret

This Memorial weekend we loaded the kids in the car and headed 5 hours north from South Florida to Jacksonville. Then we drove west about 2 hours more to visit the beautiful hidden place known as Ichetucknee Springs State Park.

The crystalline Ichetucknee River runs about six miles through gorgeaous natures wetlands before meeting up with Santa Fe River. In 1972, Ichetucknee became a National Natural Landmark. The park is a hidden secret for its location but its worth a trip to see one of Florida's wonders. Highlights of the park are as follows:

1. The Head Spring is the nature like pool area where swimmers can take a dip and enjoy the shallow as well as deeper area. The water average to be about 72 degrees and may seems cold to some as it may be just perfect for others. Keep in mind the cool climate of the water is what makes this a paradise for humans. If waters were to be any warmer this would make the water a inviting breeding ground for alligators and snakes as all other water areas are in Florida. So I would say, BRING IN THE COLD BABY!!!

2. For those seeking a bit colder water and some deeper waters you also have the Blue Hold. A half-mile walk through the Ichetucknee forest and cypress flood plain leads to Blue Hole Spring, the largest spring in the park. The bottom of the hole opening is at a 30 foot depth. The walk to get to the Blue Hole is beautifully relaxing.

3. Visitors can also enjoy tubing the crystal clear waters. Its roughly a 2 -3 hour ride and its full of natures splendors. Thousands of people visit the river and springs each year. Common ways to take the ride are tubing, canoeing or kayaking. Its nice to stop and take dips in different areas for a refreshing cool down.

4. The park is great for camping and picnics. Basically prepare for a day to be completely surround by natural beauty.

May 21st ‘Doomsday’ Money Making Propaganda

This weekend facebook, news telecast and major websites had something to say about the big Doomsday prediction that was suppose to take place this Saturday.

Harold Camping preached that the world would end on Saturday, May 21, 2011 at 6 p.m. local time, where we would experience terrible earthquakes and the rapture of 200 million of God’s believers. Here we are the Tuesday following and on the news this morning he was stating that he miss calculated the date. Now we are targeting October 21st 2011. I guess a new date target to make some profit.

What's amazing is the amount of people who actually believed this would take place. Most made mocks of it but if you do a quick search on May 21st Doomsday, you' ll find articles upon articles on how people prepared for this event. A true Christian knows that NOBODY absolutely NO ONE can predict the end of times.

A way to think of it is we all know we are guaranteed death correct? But we don't know when this will happen. So why do we worry about the end of times more then we do of our own end when the chance of us dying today, tomorrow or in 50 years are the same odds as the end of the world. It will happen the question is WHEN.

Scientist can predict world phenomenons, people can related world climate changes to the finally days but nobody can pinpoint an exact day. So why are so many people so taken by all these predictions? I read some people even gave away a great amount of their savings to "be ready for the big day".

My personal opinion is if your a Christian, get close to our Lord and know that you are at peace with his decisions when that day comes. If you are not a Christian believer, then be a good person and remember what you offer others is the same Karma you will receive.

Why follow someone that knows just as much as you about the final days which is NOTHING!!

The news is flooded with the outrage tail of a mother injecting botox on to her little 8 year old daughter. Now she is claiming that she only did it because Great Britain's "The Sun" asked her to say and pose with a syringe to create a juicy story.

So this had me thinking, whether she did insert Botox in her child or not, the question is why is our society bombarded with more and more issues every day of ways to make our kids grow up so much faster.

You walk into a store and there in your face is the newest summer trend of provocative Bikinis for 8 to 12 year olds.

Youth is such a beautiful time in someone's life and we try to hard to shorten it. Keep Santa Claus as a hope, hope for the tooth fairy to come, ride your bike until wee hours of the evening, live the childhood moment. Why does our society pressure our kids to skip this era that you only wish to have back once you are an adult.

I came across this next post somewhere in the depths of face book. I cant take credit for it but I figured I would share it and give credit where credit is due.

The article has the name of Mike Adler as the writer.

The question is: Do you believe a baby in the womb has the same right as a living being.
A worried woman went to her gynecologist and said:

'Doctor, I have a serious problem and desperately need your help! My baby is not even 1 year old and I'm pregnant again. I don't want kids so close together.

So the doctor said: 'Ok and what do you want me to do?'

She said: 'I want you to end my pregnancy, and I'm counting on your help with this.'

The doctor thought for a little, and after some silence he said to the lady: 'I think I have a better solution for your problem. It's less dangerous for you too.'

She smiled, thinking that the doctor was going to accept her request.

Then he continued: 'You see, in order for you not to have to take care 2 babies at the same time, let's kill the one in your arms. This way, you could rest some before the other one is born. If we're going to kill one of them, it doesn't matter which one it is. There would be no risk for your body if you chose the one in your arms.

The lady was horrified and said: 'No doctor! How terrible! It's a crime to kill a child!

'I agree', the doctor replied. 'But you seemed to be OK with it, so I thought maybe that was the best solution.'

The doctor smiled, realizing that he had made his point.

He convinced the mom that there is no difference in killing a child that's already been born and one that's still in the womb.

The crime is the same!

Pillow Pet for a Mothers Day Gift

A few weeks ago I was in BJ's doing some shopping and my little girl was wondering the isles with me. Asking questions on everything like any five year old would do. I always drive-by the toy isles since I am a kid at heart.

I stopped at the box of Pillow Pets and looked through all the cute faces. They had ladybugs, frogs pigs, and a few other cute faces. I didn't realize I did my usual routine of standing there and stare at a product and over analyze if I should spend the money or not. I wanted a pillow pet but could not find justification on getting my grown a#% one. My little girl tugs on my pants and says, "Mommy whats wrong?" I said, "Baby I am looking at the pillow pets.. I love the piggy." In her sweet voice she says, "Mommy get it." I answered, "No baby, I am to old to get one."

Well today on Mother's Day I got a pillow pet and the piggy no less. My Husband went in to BJs for some shopping and went with our daughter. He was looking for a card to give me today. He tells me that as they went by the toy isle she ran to the pillow pet box and said, "Daddy Mommy would love the piggy pillow pet." He asked her, "You really think so baby? " She replied, "Yes daddy she was staring at him the other day and said that she was to old to get a pillow pet." So the pillow pet made it into the shopping cart and into my arms.

My baby girl gave me the pillow pet with such an exciting glow today. My husband asked if I liked it, I could only say I LOVE IT!!! As I embraced my baby girl and said thank you, she whispered, its ok mommy to have a pillow pet. I don't think the piggy thinks your old.

1. There are several type of twins. Though we consider twins as identical or not.. there are a few different types of twins. They are: the well known identical, mirror twins, fraternal, mixed chromosome twins, super fecundation, and superfetation. But besides the identical and fraternal, the others are very rare.

2. Identical twins can be opposite sexes. This one is interesting because how can identical be of opposite sex. At the moment the egg is at splitting process, it may not happen quite as it should, ending in twins that display genetic abnormalities. This means one twin might have the right correlation of XX or XY while the other has XXY. Also very rare but has happened.

3. What the mother eats can upgrade the chances of having twins. Studies have suggested that women who that eat dairy and animal products have a higher chance conceiving twins than those that don't. Its believe to be due to a protein IGF. This is likely due to a protein called IGF that causes greater chances of ovulation.

4. Twins do not have to have the same father
This very rare occurrence when a mother releases multiple eggs, each getting fertilized by sperm from separate partners.

Dream of Me and the Scale

So a few nights went by and no dreams, or at least no real memory of them. Last night's dream was a bunch of very blurry moments but one. I walk up to a gray weight scale. I hop on the scale feeling it move side to side as if it was not balanced. Then I patiently wait for my results.

The scale in my dream said a number I have never seen me hit but in the dream I felt the feeling of unhappiness to see that number. And in the dream I tried to tamper with the scale, like I could almost talk to the scale and convince him to make the number a lot smaller. I kept saying, " you know that cant be right!" I didn't eat that much the last few days. The funny thing of this dream is I don't even own a scale. I don't believe in weighing myself.

I have been feeling bloated and gasy lately. Maybe my conscience tells me I am not feeling happy with myself.

Interpretation:
Dreaming of a Scale - To see a scale in your dream, signifies a decision that you need to make. Alternatively, the scale may suggest your need to take a balanced view of a situation and not get so emotional. Don't be so black and white and consider the gray in the situation.

Walking on Water Dream

Walking on Water Dream
Last night I had a dream that I would rank one of my most beautiful. I was at the beach and I could vividly see myself sitting Indian style on the surface of the water. I would run my hands over this sheet of water that seem to be deep beneath me yet I was clearly just floating on its surface. I could see the crowds of people on the shore looking over at me but in my dream sadly I felt they were looking at me because I felt insecure in my bathing suit. A bit into the dream I realized how incredible I felt to be able to just sit on the surface level of the water. I dipped my hand in so slightly to test if I could actually dip beneath the surface and I noticed that my mind would give me the power to decide if to sink or float on the surface,

I finally get up, look over to the people just standing there gazing at me and felt this great satisfaction. I turned toward the ocean emptiness and started to run and run as fast as I could. I felt like a feeling of pure happiness and freedom. The faster I ran the most exhilarating it felt. No mater how deep the water became, I was care free with no worry of falling.

The dream fell, like most of my dreams in to a sense of nothing. I woke up this morning only to remember it a bit later while in the shower.

According the most sites I researched on, the interpretation is as follows:
To dream that you are walking on water, suggests that you have supreme and ultimate control over your emotions. It may also suggest that you need to "stay on top" of your emotions and not let them explode out of hand. Alternatively, it is symbolic of faith in yourself.

Hmm I don't really know how to interpret this.

Turtle and the Heir "Not the Same Old Tale"

The well known story of the Turtle and the Heir has been around for ages. We all know the main concept to the folk tale. The dedicated and slow turtle pushes and pushes until he succeeds. Overconfident Heir becomes too confident and loses a race meant to be a given task. But what if we considered the story a bit deeper. We all know that without the heir being so overconfident, the turtle would not have a chance in life to beat him right? The famous lesson to learn is slow and steady always preveils and overconfidence can lead you to losses. But again, considering the true possibility of the heir losing is hard to grasp.

What if the true lesson to learn is not what we have been told but to really look at the turtle's capability to block out all that is expected and what seems to be impossible and just tackle what would in most sensible minds, be not worth attempting.

One of the hardest things to do is to block out other's preception of ourselves and what seems to be impossible. One's true achievement is better met by focusing on yourself and not how fast, intellegent, or gifted others are compared to you. Instead your focus should be what you can do at your time and pace. Once you can learn to stop from trying to achieve and compare yourself to others, things seem to happen alot easier. Our Turtle friend in this story was not interested in knowing how fast he needed to go to finish first, he just wanted to get there. And that is the key to achieving. The Heirs abilities and strength were never considered by the turtle since it made no difference to his goals and desires.

This story and its lesson was something a good friend of mine shared with me a few years ago. :)

Breathe in the happiness

Peering down from the balcony level that sits right above the pool of the cruise ship I was on this weekend, I got to do some people watching. It interesting to see different characters of people you come across during life that open your thoughts to life and what you have seen and experienced. The cruise was mostly younger individuals. Since the cruise was short and affordable, it made it a perfect vacation for the younger generation. Our destination was the Bahamas, as even though we had been there before, it lent itself to some peace and serenity for my husband and I.

There from that balcony peering down was a group of young college girls dancing to every beat imaginable of this generation. One in particular had such life. The girl was beautiful; she would sing and dance to every beat. She danced with everyone she would befriend on the dance floor. She would close her eyes and take in the music. It was clear she was living the moment.

At 35, I felt I could see my past in her personality and happiness. Don’t misunderstand me, I am not old nor am I a sad soul by any means. But one thing that drives me crazy is knowing the absence of recognition to happy moments when I was much younger. My life has been full of living the moment but wondering what would come next.
In my youthful teens and 20s, dancing was my passion. The music made me breathe in pure happiness. Every step was the opportunity to enjoy my youth but behind that was always the desire to know the next step in my life.

I wanted to grow up to be independent, I wanted to graduate college to get a high paying job, meet someone to have kids. Now, looking back every moment was precious.
This blog will be completely dedicated to the things I could teach my daughter and tell her if I had the chance to do it all over again, what would be the things I would do different.
Calista, remember, life is not about the destination, it’s about the hills and valleys you must overcome to get there. Stop and breathe in the happiness.

A Penny Worth Millions

A few years ago I met a friend at work that because of circumstances of life we became close. We happened to get pregnant at the same time and we encountered all the ups and down of pregnancy together. Around the last trimester of our pregnancy we would take walks around the office building for obvious reason understood by every pregnant women. On one of those walks we came across a penny. She managed to slowly bend down as any 7 month pregnant women would and picked it up and close her eyes for a few brief moments. I didn’t say anything, I figured it symbolized something to her.

A few days later, again we came across a penny and she did the exact same thing. So I had to ask her, ” Why do you pick up pennies and hold them so dear?” She smiled and said, “I was once told that for every penny that is put in your path its a reminder that you must trust god. Every penny has it clearly written ‘In God We Trust’. So what I do is think of anything going on in my life that is of uncertainty and put it in his hands. Then I grab the penny and keep it to remind me that he granted me the opportunity to know he is there.”I considered it such a sweet story. I thought of it for a moment and didnt think of it again for a few weeks.

About a month later, I had an ultra sound where they mentioned that my baby was smaller then expected. You can imagine the awful thoughts running through my head. I thought the worst and feared the worst. My husband and I left the doctors office in complete silence. As we left our car to walk into a restaurant, the wind blew some type of paper to my feet. I bent down to see what it was and as I grabbed it I noticed it was a twenty dollar bill. I turned it around to make sure it was what I was thinking and the first thing that I noticed was the words in big “In god we Trust”. I thought for a moment on what was most troubling me and felt a sense of peace.

My baby girl was a perfect healthy girl. I hold this memory to be one of the ways he revealed himself to me. Why did the story of my friend mean so much and why right before that happened.

So now every penny I see is a chance for me to know he is there.

Cute Kid Response

Ever stop to see the world as a three year old would see it? Its incredible to see how innocent they see the world and how their logic kicks in to come up with such incredible things.

In Florida the last few weeks has been extremely stormy and this year she is getting a dose of what thundering is. Well she kept asking me what seem to be this loud sound that startled her. Trying not to go into detailed since at her age I didn't think I need would need explain the science behind it, I gave her this small little story.

Cali, up in the sky all those clouds are usually very fluffy and white. Lately they have been soaking up a lot of the water from the earth and that is why they are so grey and heavy looking. Since they are so heavy, when the wind pushes them they seem to bump into themselves creating lighting and thunder. So of course her perplexed face sits there thinking of the situation. She then answers, "Well mommy that is what happens when they don't share and take all our water. Now they are big and getting bad booboos."

Incredible to think there are creatures mans yet to know more about in our own world.
